THE MAIN EVENT
The IN THE STREET festival celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2007 with longer hours, new events and the opportunity to purchase handmade, Frederick County wares right in the street. Celebrate this special anniversary celebration in downtown Frederick on Friday, October 5th & Saturday, October 6th 2007.

Attracting crowds of over 75,000, the IN THE STREET festival features live musical entertainment, children’s activities, a parade and numerous attractions sure to keep you busy the entire day. Highlighting the downtown Frederick Historic District, this festival showcases the best of what Frederick has to offer.

Friday, October 5
LIGHT THE CREEK
6:00 – 9:00 PM
Carroll Creek Linear Park, Amphitheater

Don’t wait until Saturday to start celebrating the 25th Anniversary of IN THE STREET! Join us Friday evening for a brand new event featuring beer and wine, food and a live performance by The Deanna Bogart Band.

Remember to bring your wallets, there will also be an opportunity to support one of twenty-five local non-profits based right here in Frederick County. Purchase a floating luminary on behalf of one of the pre-approved non-profits and launch it in to the Creek. Before the night is over, one luminary will be randomly selected. The lucky non-profit it was purchased on behalf of will walk away with all of the proceeds from the luminary sales!

IN THE STREET

8:30 AM – THE ANNUAL STEEPLECHASER’S MILE
Beginning on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., the Steeplechaser’s Mile offers a foot race along Market Street for both novices and experts alike.  (For registration information, contact Race Director Paul Spurrier at 240-409-6913)

10:00 AM – IN THE STREET PARADE
Kick-off the festivities with a hometown parade beginning at 10 a.m. Join the parade participants in wishing IN THE STREET a Happy Birthday as they proceed south on Market Street from Thomas Johnson High School. The parade will continue to Church Street, and then turn west.

Gather at the stage on the corner of West 3rd and North Market Streets for emcee announcements and performances by various participants. Winners will be announced at 1 p.m. on the Fifth Street Stage.

11:00 AM – 5:00 PM – IN THE STREET FESTIVAL
IN THE STREET officially begins at 11:00 AM and offers a variety of activities. With five stages of FREE musical entertainment and three acts per stage, there is a variety of great music spotlighting local and regional musicians! Plus, look for beer and wine sampling, strolling entertainment, and children’s activities. Additional festivities include amusements, free children’s craft activities, paddleboats, dance demonstrations and the chance to purchase handmade, Frederick County wares, including artwork, jewelry and more!

All these activities are enough to make festival-goers work up an appetite, and IN THE STREET is just the place to enjoy lunch and dinner. With everything from funnel cakes to turkey legs, local Frederick restaurants offer something to curb even the strongest appetite.

4:00 – 10:00 PM – ON THE DECK
Finish the night with a party on the top level of the Carroll Creek Parking Deck from 4 – 10 p.m. Extended this year, ON THE DECK will feature not one, but two of Frederick’s favorite bands: The Freddie Long Band and The Reagan Years. Also available is beer, wine and food for purchase.

A cover charge of $10 applies. All attendees must be 21 or older with ID. Tickets available at the door; but come early because this party sells out!
